June’s beautifully designed Tony Awards Glossybox left much to be desired. Even though it included seven diverse, new-to-me items, I felt like most of them weren’t quality items, or relevant to me. In all fairness, I still haven’t used most of the products, so it’s possible I’m underestimating this box. I’ll start with the two items I most liked:COALION Premium O2 Bubble & Cool Pore Pack Duo
Unfortunately, the summer heat got to this pore pack before I could. As you can see in my photo, the cleansing pod was swollen because somehow the formula was activated in transit. When I opened it, I noticed that a grey, bubbly formula had leaked into the outer box. I thought this was the most interesting and unexpected item in the Glossybox this month, however. I’ve never tried anything like it, and decided to try whatever was left in the cleansing pod last night. The instructions specify that you only need 3 grams of product, but each pod has 7 grams, enough for two applications. I decided to only use these once though, because I’ve had bad experiences when I’ve used products that I’ve left unsealed. The whole process of using these takes about a half hour. The bubble cleanser was fun, though I found the formation of the bubbles to be itchy on my skin. The second step, the Pore Original Pack, was incredibly cooling and made my eyes water. After reading the ingredients, I suspect that was due to the menthol in the formula. It’s hard for me to tell if these had any sort of impact on my skin after one use, but I thought the process was fun and spa-like. I wouldn’t mind trying them again.
Lué by Jean Seo Clear Spot Control
Currently, I’m using Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion as a spot treatment so I didn’t think I would have much use for this spot control, but after reading Glossybox’s product description, I think this may come in handy for those painful blemishes underneath the skin that take forever to surface. Icona Milando Emotion Allowed Mascara
As I’ve mentioned a few times, I am fully stocked in the mascara department. Needless to say, I was unimpressed when I saw that I had received another black mascara. On the bright side, this is the first waterproof formula that I’ve ever received.
LA Splash Lip Laquer High Pigment Collection in
I don’t know why I am so bored by this item, but I really am. I don’t shy away from bold colors, but this glossy orange is just not something I see myself using with any frequency.
TanTowel Half Body Classic
I have no need or interest for any sort of tanning products so these will be either given or thrown away. Sebastian Professional Shaper Fierce Finishing Hairspray and Dark Oil
This is another item that I find to be absolutely boring. I don’t use hairspray regularly, and I already have a few from subscription boxes, so I think I’ll be gifting this. I will use the sample of hair oil, though.
Out of the seven items included in this month’s Glossybox, I think only the pore pack was of any interest at all. I feel more burdened than intrigued by the products included this month and that’s got to be a bad sign. As I mentioned in May’s unboxing, I definitely won’t be subscribing to Glossybox again. When I look at my previous boxes, Glossybox definitely has more misses than hits. Even though subscribers have already purchased the box when they receive it, I think the brands and the items still have to be sold to us, especially when the brands are unfamiliar. For a subscription box at this price point, creating a sense of curation is totally necessary. I think Glossybox could really take a note from the Allure Beauty Box.
Been flicking down your blog, crikey you have a lot of boxes! 😊
