A pretty pied Birchbox arrived in my mailbox yesterday. Inside, I found five beauty products: two haircare, one skincare, and two makeup items. The design on the box was definitely cute this month, but I wasn’t too happy that Birchbox decided to focus on haircare. I’ve recently cut my hair above my shoulders and the way I style it doesn’t call for many sorts of hair products. I think it’s time I update my profile.Profile PRO Ultra Nourishing Oil
This oil I will be using. Though I have a lot of hair oil samples already thanks to Birchbox and Ipsy, I do use them often, usually after washing my hair and after straightening it to tame the frizz and add some shine. Smooth and straight locks are what I long for and hair oils do the trick.
Oribe Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray
I’ve heard a lot about this being a really great brand, but unfortunately I don’t think I will be able to try this item out. My hair is thick with strange and irregular waves. Since it’s short now, I don’t have a choice but to wear it straight. A wave spray is the exact opposite of what I need.Avène Cleanance Cleansing Gel for Face and Body
I like this brand and I’m glad to try out another of their products. I think I’ll be using this tonight. Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil in 06 Deep
This tiny sample is about the size of my thumb and doesn’t twist up, so it looks like whatever is visible is what can be used. I wonder how many uses I can get out of it. I tried it today and I think it will work for me. My eyebrow routine is pretty minimal and I usually only use an old black eyeliner pencil to fill in a scar I have. This item will work for that, but I don’t see myself spending $24 for a job that an old eyeliner can take care of. I’m glad Birchbox sent me the right color, though, so that I could try it out.Manna Kadar Eyeshadow in Fantasy
This looked like a great item, though it shattered before it arrived. Reading the reviews on the website, it looks like mine wasn’t the only one. Hopefully, Birchbox will send out a replacement.
At face value, it looks like only three out of the five items will be of any use to me this time around. Hopefully, after contacting Birchbox’s customer service, that number will be bumped up to four. I’m still on the fence about keeping this subscription. Have any of you decided to cancel Birchbox after the changes in the points system? I’m really thinking about taking a break from this sub.
My Manna Kadar product came shattered too! I emailed customer support and they said a new one is on the way. Still a huge bummer!!

Definitely! Reading the reviews on Birchbox, it seems like a lot of people’s arrived totally shattered!

My eyeshadow was broken as well. I would have loved to have gotten that wave & shine spray or that gel–they look like decent sizes too!

So disappointing! Hopefully, we can get them replaced. Yeah, the Oribe spray is apparently really popular! Maybe I’ll find a way to get some use out of it.

Oh so sad about that eye shadow! If you have an empty pot you can use it loose. I’ve had several eye shadows shatter before (my own fault) and that`s how I end up using them. But, I do hope Birchbox will send a replacement (and it arrives intact!)

That’s such a good idea, but the shadow was so messy that I just ended up tossing it! Apparently, a replacement has already been shipped to me and their warehouse is aware of the problem with these eyeshadows so hopefully that means I (and everyone else who received it shattered) can expect it intact!
