Beauty Buys

Monthly Beauty Buys | May 2016

Like I mentioned in last month’s post, because I spent so much money on makeup recently, my goal for May was to limit my beauty purchases to three: one from Birchbox, one from Target, and one unforeseen purchase. How did I do? (Drum roll…) Let’s just say I didn’t meet my goal…buuuuttt I’m still very proud of myself because I came very, very close! 😛

I had been planning on cashing in 300 Birchbox points this month and I already had a few different things on my wishlist, but I totally ended up changing my mind at the last minute. Benefit’s newest limited edition palette was just calling to me! For $16.40 (including a 20% discount code and tax), I bought this beauty:

Isn’t it an absolute steal? Especially considering that all of the pans are full-size! (This is why I love Birchbox!) I’m clearly still addicted to blush! I don’t own a single one of these powders though, so I am beyond thrilled that I can sample each one of them, especially in such a beautifully designed palette. Dallas, here I come! Rockateur, I’ve been waiting for you! 😉

Now, for my Target purchase! I had a coupon from April’s Target Beauty Box for $3 off a $15 purchase. I actually had also intended on using the $2 off Pixi coupon from the Allure Beauty Box, but it turns out Target won’t let you stack their coupons! Sad. Regardless, I think Target was having a promo for 10% off Pixi products, so I landed this puppy for $13.57.

Yes…I know…more BLUSH! It’s really the highlight that pops in this duo though. It’s such a shimmery gold. The blush is definitely more on the subtle side when it comes to pigmentation.

Next is what should’ve been my unforeseen and therefore last purchase for the month.Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Catfight and Matte Revolution Lipstick in Menace

When I innocently stepped into Ulta because I was curious about NYX’s eyeliners, I remembered that these lipsticks were still being sold for $11 a piece. I only wanted to peek at the Urban Decay section to see what this Ulta had left in stock, but thesleepingcutie dressed in red on my left shoulder couldn’t let me leave empty-handed.

And now, on to the purchase that tipped me over the edge, my guilty pleasure:

Too Faced sent me a coupon for 25% off plus free shipping, so I couldn’t resist this LE palette. The last thing I need is more eyeshadow, but I seriously didn’t want to miss out on this beauty.

So there it is! My beauty purchases for the month of May, not including my subscription boxes, totaled $82.89 with tax! That is seriously an improvement for me so I’m going to celebrate my success by  buying more makeup keeping up the good work! 😀 I want June to be a total no-buy for me, even though it is my birthday month. Let my friends and family do all the shopping! 😛

  1. I’ve been eyeing that Cheekathon palette, and just want to wait until after I get and review the June Birchbox because I’ll hit 400 points! Also, good job only picking out one thing from Target. I always overspend there!

    • Wow! So many points! Make sure you hunt for a 20% off code and add a mystery sample pack if you can!
When I went to Target, I just went straight to the Pixi section and didn’t let myself browse, or else I know I would have picked up something else! lol
